It is with great excitement to announce that Black Umbrellas is the selected winner of the 2019 International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) award. Our programme competed with international thought leaders and scored extremely high with the judges in the Entrepreneurial Center Award for Specialty programs category. Additionally, we were also awarded the prestigious Dinah Adkins Incubator of the year award at the ceremony hosted on the 16th April 2019 at the Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis.

“This award is indicative of the dedication and hard work by our SME clients and employees in ensuring that Black Umbrellas is a world class institution” remarks Seapei Mafoyane, CEO Black Umbrellas.

Each year, the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) recognizes business incubators and entrepreneurship centres with proven track records of excellence. InBIA represents 2200 organisations across 62 countries. These organisations and the outstanding companies they serve are the foundation for regional economic growth in communities around the world. InBIA’s awards celebrate the heart of business incubation and entrepreneurial economic development organisations.

About Black Umbrellas

Black Umbrellas is an enterprise development incubation organisation partnering with the private sector, government and civil society to address the low levels of entrepreneurship and high failure rate of 100% black owned emerging businesses in the African continent. The programme focuses on promoting entrepreneurship as a desirable economic path, and nurturing 100% black-owned businesses in the critical first three years of their existence through the provision of nationwide incubators.
